    Radio broadcasting is one of the largest sectors of the media industry and broadcasting itself provided about 316,000 
    wage and salary jobs in 2008. Employment in broadcasting is expected to increase by 7 percent over the 2008-18 
    period.* There are many different jobs available within radio broadcasting, and the competition in the industry is fierce.

    Job prospects will be best for applicants with a college degree in broadcasting, journalism, or a related field, as well as 
    relevant work experience, such as work at college radio and television stations or internships at professional stations.

INTERNSHIPS

News/Public Affairs Internship
Learn by participating in the process of researching and preparation of the weekly public affairs program, Charlottesville This Week, which airs on the Monticello Media radio stations. May also participate in preparation and coverage of local news. This internship is provided for credit only.

Programming Internship
If you have an interest in learning the radio business and the roll interactive plays in the process this may be the internship for you. You will work with program directors or others who are involved in putting together both the on-air product as well as our interactive products. This internship is provided for credit only.

    Promotion Internship

    Promotional opportunities available in the spring and summer of 2010. Promotional interns participate in station public 
    events and activities at festivals, fairs, local businesses and promotional functions. Presenting a positive image in 
    appearance and actions is essential for these positions. This internship is provided for credit only.
